Founder Notes

Once a month I write a short letter about how GraveLink is growing, what I have improved, and how I am making sure every memorial is cared for in the years ahead. Every note stays here so nothing gets lost in an inbox.

A quick October update from GraveLink

Thank you for being here, and for caring about GraveLink in these early days.

Because GraveLink is just me behind the scenes, I wanted to start a tradition of a quiet monthly note. I want to share what I am building, what I am learning as I grow this, and how I am making sure these memorial pages remain safe and accessible for decades to come.

Making sure GraveLink lasts for generations

The most common question families ask me is: "How can you guarantee the memorial page will still be online years from now?"

It is a fair question, and one I take seriously. To answer it, I am establishing a dedicated preservation reserve. A portion of every purchase will be set aside into a fund that exists solely to pay for hosting, storage, and domain renewals far into the future. That money is never treated as everyday profit.

I also built a complete data export tool this month. At any time, a family can download an archive of their loved one's story, photos, timeline, and guest book messages to keep on their own computer. Your memories belong to your family, not to a platform.

Welcoming my first memorial partner

I recently partnered with my first independent memorial portrait artist. He creates custom memorial portraits for families and will now be adding GraveLink QR codes to his work. As his families receive their portraits, you will start seeing more memorials and life stories appear on GraveLink in the coming weeks.

Evolving pricing

As I learn the true costs of running this business, producing physical markers, and providing support, my pricing has evolved.

Digital Plus is now $39, and the Standard plan is $99, which includes a Grade 2 titanium marker shipped to the family. My core promise remains unchanged: every plan is a one-time payment. I will never charge a grieving family a monthly or yearly subscription to remember someone they love.

15 improvements I built this month

  1. Family data export: Download every photo, timeline entry, and story in one click.
  2. Expanded partner photo limits: Partner memorials now include up to 25 photos.
  3. Six independent editor tabs: Update the biography, photos, or location separately without losing your place.
  4. Cleaner date formatting: Birth and passing dates now display clearly and consistently.
  5. Exact gravesite GPS pins: Paste a Google Maps link or coordinates so visitors get directions to the resting place.
  6. Moderated guest book: Memorial hosts can review notes before they appear publicly.
  7. Private family claiming: Partners can set up a memorial and send a private link so the family takes ownership.
  8. Printable QR codes: Download high-resolution QR codes for funeral programs and prayer cards.
  9. Family contributor invites: Invite siblings, children, or friends to add their own photos and stories.
  10. Grade 2 titanium markers: Built to stand up to weather, sun, and time.
  11. Video support: Add tribute videos and recordings to a memorial.
  12. Ad-free lifetime pages: No banner ads, popups, or sponsored links.
  13. Memorial search directory: Look up public memorials directly from the search page.
  14. Plain-language terms: My terms of service are now clear, fair, and easy to read.
  15. Faster mobile loading: Pages load quickly, even on cemetery grounds with weak signal.
